This product covers two system versions for BMW 2 Series F45/F46:

• NBT System (6-Pin) — for 2012–2015 models (iDrive 4 interface)
• EVO System (6-Pin) — for 2016–2019 models (iDrive 6 / ID5 or ID6 interface)

⚠️ Both NBT and EVO use the same 6-Pin connector — you cannot tell them apart by the plug alone. The only reliable way to identify your system is to check your iDrive version in Settings → System Information. If it shows ID5 or ID6, you have the EVO system. Otherwise, it is NBT.

Q1: Does the installation require cutting wires? Can I do it myself? How long does it take?

No wire cutting required. Our product features a true Plug-and-Play design with vehicle-specific harnesses — no wire splicing, no coding, completely non-destructive installation. Installation typically takes 2–3 hours. For DIY enthusiasts, we provide detailed photo guides and video tutorials. If you're not comfortable with vehicle disassembly, we recommend having it installed by a local professional car audio shop or specialized repair center. Labor costs typically range from $100–$200 USD.

Q2: What if there's no sound after installation?

Three scenarios cover 99% of no-sound issues. Choose the solution based on your vehicle's audio configuration:

• Vehicle has an AMI port: Connect the AMI adapter cable to the factory AMI port, then plug the other end into the AUX on the power harness — the audio channel will be activated.
• Vehicle has AUX only (no AMI): Plug the AUX cable directly into the factory AUX port, then navigate to the multimedia settings in the OEM interface UI and tap "AUX" to confirm activation.
• Vehicle has fiber optic audio (e.g., factory premium sound system): Transfer the 2P fiber optic cable from the factory power harness to our power harness to complete the audio signal connection.

For vehicles running Linux-based systems such as BMW EVO or Mercedes NTG 5.0, the audio output logic is uniquely configured. We have prepared a dedicated audio setup guide video. Q3: Can I add a backup camera if my car doesn't have one? Does it support both CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes to both — backup camera can be added, and both CarPlay & Android Auto are fully supported.

• Backup Camera: Supports an external AHD HD backup camera (optional accessory), with max resolution of 1080p (industry standard is typically 720p). Once installed, the camera view automatically activates when you shift into reverse, with dynamic trajectory guide lines built into the camera itself (not generated by the head unit). If your vehicle already has a factory backup camera, it remains fully compatible.
• CarPlay & Android Auto: Both are supported wirelessly, compatible with iPhone and Android devices. Auto-connect on entry — no cables required.
• System Choice: The Linux version and Snapdragon Android version use the same harnesses and connectors — installation is identical. The only difference is the operating system and app ecosystem.
