What is the iDrive Controller?

The iDrive controller is BMW's signature rotary knob and button cluster, located on the center console. On the BMW X1 E84 with a CIC system, the iDrive controller is the primary input device for navigating menus, adjusting settings, and controlling the screen — just like the original BMW iDrive experience.

Do I Need One?

• ✅ If your vehicle already has an iDrive controller — you do NOT need to add one. Your existing controller will work seamlessly with this unit.
• ⚠️ If your vehicle does NOT have an iDrive controller (some base-spec X1 E84 models were sold without it) — we strongly recommend adding one. Without it, you will only be able to control the screen via touchscreen.
